XESS Alliance for Higher Education

XESS Alliance for Higher Education

Applied Information Systems is committed to supporting the professional training of students in colleges and universities. AIS provides an important part of this support through its Alliance for Higher Education and the campus-wide licensing of the XESS spreadsheet. This campus-wide license makes XESS available to all members of the university community -- students, faculty, and administrators -- at very low cost to the university.

Who qualifies?

This program is available to colleges and universities world-wide that would like to make XESS generally available to their students, faculty, and employees throughout their campus network.

What if we need XESS for a department or a small institution?

AIS provides several other options to support institutions that can not take advantage of the campus license program.

What is included in the campus license?

A campus license includes distributions for each platform supported by AIS that is required at the site and three sets of documentation. Additional manuals may be purchased at discounted prices. Arrangements can be made whereby AIS will provide PostScript files to the institution with authorization to print as necessary.

How are licenses administered?

A centralized license server is used to prevent unauthorized access. Any user at the institution who has network connectivity to the license server is able to run XESS. There are no limits on the number of concurrent users. For an additional support fee per license request, AIS will provide individual/cluster licenses.

What platforms are supported?

The XESS spreadsheet can be run on any combination of the platforms supported by AIS. The campus license fee covers any platforms requested with the initial order. There is a media fee for subsequent platform requests.

How is support provided?

The educational institution is required to handled first level support. For an annual support fee, AIS will provide second-level support to the centralized support group designated by the institution.
