SPSDC is a free community‐focused SharePoint event dedicated to educating and engaging members of the local technical community. SPSDC draws upon the expertise of local SharePoint IT professionals, developers, and solutions architects who come together to share their real world experiences, lessons learned, best practices, and general knowledge with other like‐minded individuals.

This year, AIS’s Scott Hoag will be leading a session entitled, “To the Cloud! Using IaaS as a Hosting Provider for SharePoint.” 

Session Description: To the cloud! This phrase seems to come up more and more often for organizations looking to reduce their SharePoint footprint and operational expenses in their on premise data centers. In this session Scott will give a brief overview of a few of the premier Infrastructure as a Service hosting providers for SharePoint, how SharePoint in the cloud stacks up against Office 365 and how to quickly get your SharePoint system built in a repeatable fashion for development environments.

Attendees will have a better understanding of core Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers. Attendees will understand the complexities of what is involved with implementing SharePoint in a cloud hosted environment. Attendees will see SharePoint what some of the nuances and workarounds are for hosting SharePoint in the cloud.

Speaker_620Scott Hoag (MCITP, MCPD) is an Infrastructure Consultant with Applied Information Sciences. With over 9 years of experience as both a developer and an engineer, Scott has been utilizing Microsoft based content management solutions from MCMS 2002 to SharePoint 2013 today. Scott focuses on SharePoint and cloud-based deployments for clients around the world, with a heavy focus on Azure-based solutions. Scott is also the co-host of the Brewery.fm (http://brewery.fm) podcast with Dan Usher where they talk about Office 365, Azure, AWS, and everything in-between.
